I was born in the heart of rural Spain, in a small city called Badajoz. I received my 5 year B.A. in English Studies from four different universities around the world that contributed to my academic and cultural enrichment: Universidad de Extremadura in 2004 (Cáceres, Spain), National University of Ireland in 2005 (Galway, Ireland), Universidad de Málaga in 2006 (Málaga, Spain) and Kalamazoo College in 2007 (Kalamazoo, Michigan). In 2011 I did an M.A. in Education at the University of Extremadura. In 2012 my interest in Spanish literature and cultural studies would lead to my return to Michigan, where I did a two year M.A in Spanish language and literature (Western Michigan University 2012-2014). After two years of studying and working as a Teaching Assistant for this institution I received the Graduate Research and Creative Scholar Award in 2014. I chose to move to Tucson, Arizona in order to pursue a PhD in peninsular literature (University of Arizona 2014-2018). I am currently involved in the study of Golden Age Spanish literature, with special focus on theater and poetry and more recently the study of 20th century Spanish poetry, especially the Generación del 27 and the poems of Federico García Lorca. I have taught basic, intermediate and advanced Spanish courses at Kalamazoo College, Western Michigan University, and the University of Arizona, where I am currently teaching the course Issues in Latin American Societies and Popular Cultures. I am a big literature and cinema geek. I love travelling, eating all sorts of food and learning. I currently speak Spanish, English, German, and Italian but the learning process never ends!
